- Developing partnerships with peer think tanks locally and internationally regarding the enhancement of the Institute’s quality and governance activities.
- Performing other tasks assigned to the Unit within its scope of work.
Functions and Tasks of the Unit
- Preparing operational policies for quality and governance in alignment with the Institute’s vision, mission, and objectives.
- Preparing the appropriate guidelines to support the Institute’s quality and governance activities.
- Preparing specialized studies and reports to support the Unit’s activities.
- Providing technical support in the fields of quality and governance to academic centers and administrative units.
- Developing human capacities in the fields of quality and governance for both academic and administrative staff.
- Preserving, maintaining, and developing the institutional memory of the Institute concerning quality and governance activities.
- Enhancing cooperation with institutions concerned with quality and governance locally and internationally.
- Preparing annual and periodic reports on the Unit’s activities and submitting them to the President of the Institute.
The Unit Includes Three Specialized Sub-Departments, Each Responsible for a Set of Activities
First: Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation Department
This department consists of a coordinator and working teams composed of members of the academic staff, teaching assistants, and administrative personnel. The department works directly on the application of the accreditation standards of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE). Its main activities include:
- Preparing plans for implementing NAQAAE accreditation standards, in coordination with the Postgraduate Studies Committee and concerned units within the Institute.
- Following up on and assessing the implementation of NAQAAE accreditation standards in coordination with academic centers and administrative units.
- Building and developing the capacities of the academic and administrative staff regarding the application of quality assurance and accreditation standards, in cooperation with the Institute’s Training Committee and NAQAAE.
- Proposing improvements to postgraduate programs and supporting systems (material, technological, and knowledge-based), in coordination with the Postgraduate Studies Committee.
- Reviewing the technical working groups’ reports, approving the department’s annual report, and submitting it to the Unit Director.
- Submitting periodic internal reports to the Unit Director on the department’s progress, key challenges, and development needs.
Second: Governance and Institutional Development Department
This department consists of a coordinator and working teams composed of members of the academic staff, teaching assistants, and administrative personnel. Its main activities include:
- Preparing the governance and institutional performance development plan to enhance transparency and accountability.
- Preparing the technical manuals required to apply various governance rules and to implement the international quality standards obtained or expected to be obtained by the Institute.
- Implementing new governance requirements: protection against sexual exploitation and abuse, risk management frameworks, equal opportunities, academic ethics, and the code of conduct and public service ethics.
- Promoting governance culture and practices and building the related capacities in cooperation with the Institute’s Training Committee.
- Proposing improvements to governance and institutional development practices at the Institute.
- Reviewing the technical working groups’ reports, approving the department’s annual report, and submitting it to the Unit Director.
- Submitting periodic internal reports to the Unit Director on the department’s progress, key challenges, and development needs.
Third: Data Management and Technical Support Department
This department consists of a coordinator and working teams composed of members of the academic staff, teaching assistants, and administrative personnel. Its main activities include:
- Designing and developing databases and information systems for the Institute’s quality and governance activities.
- Analyzing and providing quality and governance information using appropriate scientific and statistical methods.
- Applying suitable electronic archiving methods to preserve and maintain quality and governance data.
- Developing the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit’s webpage on the Institute’s website.
- Providing technical support to the Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation Department and the Governance and Institutional Development Department.
- Coordinating cooperation and knowledge exchange frameworks with peer activities in local and international think tanks.
- Reviewing the technical working groups’ reports, approving the department’s annual report, and submitting it to the Unit Director.
- Submitting periodic internal reports to the Unit Director on the department’s progress, key challenges, and development needs.
