Academic Centers Description


Overview of the Center for Agricultural Planning and Development

The Agricultural Planning Center was established in 1960 in parallel with the establishment of the Institute, with the aim of contributing to the development and advancement of the agricultural sector. In 2004, the Agricultural Planning Center and the Industrial Planning Center were merged under the name Center for Investment Studies and Project Planning and Management. Following the issuance of the Executive Regulations of the Institute’s Law in 2016, the Center was separated from the Center for Industrial Planning and Development and re-established under its current name, Center for Agricultural Planning and Development.

The Center is one of the Institute’s specialized centers concerned with agricultural development planning and the provision of scientific and consultancy services to all governmental institutions, as well as private and civil organizations operating in the field of agricultural development. In this regard, the Center utilizes all the Institute’s human and material resources, continuing its activities with a high level of professionalism and flexibility in accordance with international best practices, aiming to become the first choice for institutions and organizations working in agricultural planning and development.

Areas of Work

In light of the above, the main areas of work of the Center include:

  • Contributing to the formulation of plans and policies aimed at developing the Egyptian agricultural sector.
  • Conducting studies and research on all issues and aspects related to agricultural planning and development at the local and regional levels.
  • Qualifying and enhancing the capacities of human resources working in agricultural planning and development through specialized diplomas, training programs, workshops, and specialized consultancy services.
  • Providing consultancy services in the field of agricultural development to all units of the agricultural sector.
  • Training employees in the agricultural sector and developing their skills in agricultural planning and development through various training courses.
  • Contributing to the preparation of strategies and development plans for the agricultural sector.
  • Marketing various agricultural activities at the local and regional levels.
  • Conducting economic feasibility studies for agricultural projects.
  • Contributing to the planning of sustainable rural and agricultural development programs.
  • Exchanging expertise and research activities at the local and regional levels.

Strategic Objectives

  • Contributing to positioning the National Planning Institute among the top five scientific institutions ranked locally and regionally in the field of agricultural planning and development.
  • Promoting the concept of planning in the agricultural sector by providing decision-makers and stakeholders with plans, studies, consultancy services, and capacity-building programs to increase the contribution of agriculture to the national economy.
