Overview of the Planning Methods Center’s Activities

The Planning Methods Center (PMC) is one of the core scientific centers at the Institute of National Planning. Its activities focus on developing planning, decision-making, and monitoring methodologies at all levels in the state, in line with global best practices and advancements. The center supports the enhancement of planning and monitoring activities at both the macro level and across all governmental and non-governmental entities in the country.

The center strives to strengthen the institute’s vital role in supporting sustainable development in Egypt by leveraging its distinguished expertise, proactive initiatives, and constructive engagements.

PMC’s Policies

The center’s policies are guided by the following principles:

  • Translating and adopting the institute’s vision, mission, and values into the center’s operations and activities.
  • Formulating strategic objectives for the center in alignment with the institute’s broader strategic goals.
  • Implementing practical/executive programs at the center level to support the institute’s operational plans.
  • Fostering collaboration and integration with other scientific centers to achieve the institute’s strategic objectives.
  • Enhancing cooperation and coordination with the center’s partners, both domestically and internationally.
  • Highlighting the unique and specialized nature of the center’s activities within the institute’s framework and its scientific centers.
  • Ensuring broad participation from academic and support staff in shaping and achieving the center’s and institute’s goals.

 

 

 

PMC’s Activities

The center’s core activities revolve around Employing and expanding the use of modern quantitative and non-quantitative scientific methods to support planning, development, and decision-making at various levels. These methods and applications include:

  • Developing and applying models, statistical analyses, and econometric applications to enhance planning and decision-making.
  • Utilizing data analytics, information technology systems, and foresight studies with their diverse tools and dimensions.
  • Engaging in social responsibility activities that align with the center’s primary focus areas.

PMC’s Strategic Objectives

  • Aligning with and supporting the institute’s strategic objectives by contributing to its core activities—research, training, education, consultancy, and social responsibility—while also enhancing administrative systems and operational efficiency.
  • Developing and applying quantitative and qualitative models, data analytics, and tools to support research, planning studies, and national decision-making processes.
  • Contributing to the advancement of information technology and decision-support systems to promote digital transformation within and beyond the institute.
  • Collaborating with think tanks and research institutions (domestically and internationally) to improve the application of quantitative and non-quantitative methods for sustainable development.
  • Actively participating in capacity-building initiatives, particularly in training and postgraduate studies, while proposing updates to programs based on the latest global trends in research and education methodologies.
  • Providing and proposing competitive, high-quality consultancy services in the center’s areas of expertise.
  • Strengthening the capabilities of the institute’s scientific and technical centers in quantitative methods, IT systems, and modern scientific approaches, ensuring cross-center collaboration.
  • Building and nurturing specialized human resources in the center’s key fields of work.
  • Proposing and implementing initiatives that support the institute’s social responsibility goals.
