The National Planning Institute held a training program on “Formulating, Implementing, Monitoring and Evaluating Public Policy” for 20 trainees working at the National Population Council, during the period from 12 to 15 May 2025, with the participation of a group of professors and experts from inside and outside the institute, including Dr. Heba Gamaleldin, Head of the Future Studies Department at the Institute, and Omnia Gaber, Public Policy Evaluation Expert and Director of Economic Affairs for the Business Climate Improvement Initiative at the Ministry of Planning.
In this context, Prof. Ashraf Salah El-Din, Vice President of the National Planning Institute for Training, Consultancy and Community Service, explained that the program comes out of the institute’s keenness to raise awareness of the concept of public policies, identify the difference between making and analyzing, and know what are the stages of formulating public policies.
Dr. Ashraf Salahuddin pointed out that the program aims to train participants on the most prominent methods of making and analyzing public policies, identifying the most important determinants that must be identified in the process of making public policies, enabling participants to write public policy papers, as well as identifying what is the implementation of public policies, “characteristics, approaches, and methods,” as well as identifying the conditions of the good implementation process and the obstacles to implementation, the concept of policy evaluation and the difference between evaluation and assessment.
It is worth mentioning that the training program included several themes: Public Policy Making, Drafting Policy Papers, Implementing Public Policies, Evaluating and Assessing Public Policies .
